District Bowls Association night pennant competitions continue under the lights
on Monday and Tuesday nights.
Super Challenge
begins with men's and women's teams. The men play Singles, two Pairs, 2-bowl
Triples and Fours and the ladies play Pairs and Fours.

Open Day
Men and women with a wide range of
ages tried their hand at bowls in the first open day of 2005. Several new members joined the

Night Bowls The
front green now has lights and is ready for night bowls. Come
and enjoy a social game under the lights in the cool of the evening. The lights
were officially opened on Friday 26 November by Deputy Mayor of Maroochy Shire
Council Zrinka Johnston who bowled the first official bowl, seen here watched by
Ladies' President Helen Burley, Project Manager Ted Field, Men's President Fred
Rose and District President Noel McGaw.
Social night bowls will continue on
Wednesday nights as open triples. Dress is mufti.
Friday nights are Learn to Bowlnights when new bowlers are invited to come and try their hand. Flat soled
shoes are required.
Members' Fiesta Tuesday 22 February. Ladies play two
games of 18 ends from 10 a.m. Lunch is B.Y.O. or purchase from kitchen. Green
fee $10.
Men's A.G.M.
Sunday 27 February, 9 a.m. Come and
have a say in the selection of the new committee or, better still, have a say in
the management of the Club by standing for the committee.
Topsy's Special Day
Wednesday 2 March, 1 p.m. A special
day of mixed bowls to celebrate Topsy Plaisted's 21 years as Secretary of the
Ladies Club.
Irish Night
A three course meal with
Irish entertainment and dancing at 6 p.m. on Friday 11 March. Door prizes,
raffles, best Irish costume, best Irish joke. Don the green and make
up a party. $15 per head. Seats are limited, so book early.
Breakfast and Mixed Bowls
Wednesday 8 April, 8:00 a.m. for
breakfast, bowls at 9:30 a.m. A most enjoyable social morning.
Corporate Bowls Challenge Sunday 10 April, 1 p.m. Teams of four
(or three plus a club member by request) from local businesses compete for
prestige and prizes in a very social atmosphere. Contact the club to enter a
team. Flat soled shoes are required. Bowls are supplied. See results and photos
from 2004 on the Events 2004 page. This third
Challenge was once again a fun day enjoyed by all with several new teams entered
and new prize-winners. First prize went to the Bunnings No.1 team, second to
RealWay Real Estate and third to JPG Designs. Individual prizes went to those
who scored "touchers". All joined in for a BBQ and salad dinner after the game.

Skirts vs Shirts
Friday 15 April, 1-4p.m.
The annual challenge between the men and the
ladies. Reputations are at stake here! Always a great day. In spite of some very
good rink wins by the skirts, the shirts prevailed overall by the narrow margin
of 188 shots to 183. Best performed team for the skirts was Etta Hall, Mary
Murray, Cathy Quigley and Margaret Gentleman (skip) and runners-up were Rita
Casagrande, Audrey Mackay, Linda Pampling and Maureen Poole (skip). For the
shirts, best performed on a count-back were Jack Gentleman, Keith Clegg, Col
Harris and Jim Alexander (skip) and runners-up were Ian Marshall, Jack Trahern,
Bill Lipscombe and Neil Favell (skip). Captain Col Harris accepted the Lindsay
Gardens Trophy on behalf of the shirts.

Christmas in July
Saturday 23 July, 6 p.m. The social
highlight of the winter! A three course meal, entertainment by musician/comedian
Steve Hill, dancing and the festive spirit, all for $ 15. Another full house
enjoyed a delicious meal and an entertaining night. See a few photos on the

Visiting Club
On 24 July, in glorious weather, we
enjoyed a visit from a full coach load of players from the Wynnum-Manly War
Veterans Bowls Club. They greatly appreciated the lunch and all enjoyed
the games.
Men's Pennants Start Teams are entered in Divisions1, 2, 3, 4 and 5.
Visiting Club
On the morning of Sunday 21 August
the men of Redcliffe Dolphins Social Bowls Club joined us for a game and lunch.
Another most enjoyable occasion.
President's Trophy Day
On Tuesday 30 August, President Helen Burley hosted two full greens of ladies at
her trophy day with a host of prizes and goodies.

Buderim Fiesta
On Tuesday 6 September the ladies
hosted the Buderim Fiesta. Visiting players are most welcome. Please contact
Secretary Topsy if you are interested in playing.
Night Barefoot Bowls
Night barefoot bowls under the lights
recommenced on Friday 16 September. Come along with some friends and enjoy a fun
social evening.
Mixed Charity Day
Wednesday 5 October. An outstanding day of mixed triples and fours that raised
over $1,200 to support three local charities.
Visiting Clubs
Queensland Meat Traders Social Bowls
Club will visit for lunch, bowls and afternoon tea on Sunday 9 October. Other interested
clubs are invited to contact the
Secretary.
Corporate Challenge
On Sunday 16 October 28 teams from local businesses
and organisations matched their skills again in teams of four or three plus a
Buderim Bowls Club member by arrangement. Winners were Flight Centre, with
Gloria Jean's Coffee runner-up and Ord Minnett third. In spite of some early
rain it was a fun afternoon topped off with a sit-down barbeque dinner,
auction, raffle and presentation of prizes.
Refreshments were provided at the
bar and by the mobile bottle brigade, Tony Berry, Geoff Zerner and Ian
Tough, who later acted as auctioneer. See the

Scottish Night
On 21 October in 2005. A bonny night
with all the trappings including the traditional haggis piped in. A delicious
three course meal with Scottish entertainment by Ken O'Flaherty on vocals and
guitar and Ian Power on bagpipes. All for $12.50 including door prizes plus

Ladies Presentation Day
Tuesday 25 October saw the
presentation of the ladies' championship trophies and a special ceremony to
celebrate the 40 years of service to the club by Patroness and Life Member
Sylvia Robson and Olive Ashby.
State
of Origin
Postponed to Friday 28 October
due to the wet weather. Mixed fours. The Moondah Bell trophy was up for grabs
again for the winning team representing their state of origin. Won again by
Queensland 6 rinks to 4 under new rules. The Rest of the World would have won
208 shots to 204 under the old rules.
Breakfast and Mixed Bowls
Wednesday 26 October. Breakfast at
8:00 a.m. followed by mixed bowls at 9:30 a.m. Always a good morning. Once again
a great success!
Men's Presentation Day Saturday 29 October. A good roll-up of
men and ladies turned out for mixed bowls and the presentation of the men's championship trophies.
Melbourne Cup Day Melbourne Cup Day on Tuesday
1 November started with mixed bowls at 10 a.m. followed by a delicious lunch and then the
big race. Thanks ladies for a great day and congratulations to all the sweeps
winners and to Makybe Diva and her connections. The fashions were not quite
Flemington but were much in evidence. Maria Stotschek, Michael Richards and
Cathy Quigley featured in the fashion stakes and Lesley Coleman, President
Helen Burley, Margaret Caton and Rita Cassagrande in the millinery derby.
Corporate Challenge Night
Series
A six week series played under lights
on Wednesday evenings between nominated teams from local businesses. A follow-up
to the highly successful Corporate Challenge day.
Christmas Party
At 6 pm on Friday 9 December. Once again a full house enjoyed a sumptuous 3 course meal, great
music by Rum 'n' Roses and lots of dancing by those who were up to it. Santa
spread his Christmas cheer.
