Events 2004 Events 2005 Events 2006 Events 2007 Events 2008 November 2003 State of Origin Two greens were full as Queensland played mixed fours against The Rest, whose origins were spread as far as Denmark, Holland, Latvia, Malaysia and, of course, England, Scotland, Ireland and New Zealand, not to mention all the Australian states. The rivalry was fierce as rival captains, a hirsute and bespangled Barry Hawthorne for Queensland and a mexican-hatted Col Harris for The Rest urged on their respective teams with a pre-game oration. The only thing missing was a haka! In contrast to the previous three years, victory went to The Rest by a score of 289 to 252. Altogether it was a most colourful day. The climax was the presentation of the magnificent trophy, the Moondah Bell, by Bill Shaw to Captain Col, who received it graciously on behalf of The Rest. A rather sullen, but defiant, Queensland captain could be seen in the background!
December 2003 Friday December 12, 6 p.m. A three course meal with outstanding entertainment by Rum and Roses, dancing and general frivolity. Good food, good fun and good company! See the Photo Gallery for photos.
